A Trip to the Vet

Today we took Keisha to the vet hospital. She wasn’t feeling good. When I picked her up she would yelp and this morning I saw fleas on her so off we went. We found a vet and we didn’t wait long to be seen. Keisha hurt her rib jumping from our bed to the floor. It is quite a drop and I guess she just hit the floor the wrong way. She was slow moving all day but she is getting better just a bruised rib. She also received a heartworm and flea treatment. Usually we do this in the spring and continue through the summer but here in Florida they do it all year round because the weather is just like summer here and there are mosquitoes who are carriers of the heartworm for dogs. So we have been told that dogs normally get the treatment year round. Now we know!

The fire ants problem seems to have been solved. The chemicals have done the job (hope it’s not toxic to humans!). I haven’t seen an ant since we sprayed. I still have the bites and will have for another week or so. These pests are very small and very nasty. HATE THEM!

These ladies know how to golf

I played golf with the ladies league this morning and I really enjoyed myself. They were terrific golfers and I guess when you play five days a week for 12 months a year anyone can get better. Claire had a handicap of 10 and the others were in the 20’s. Mine is 32 so I was kind of “out of my league”. I play again on Thursday and Friday so by next Tuesday I will be ready for them!

Denis played this afternoon with a Retired United Minister from Newfoundland and a couple from Ohio while I spent a quiet afternoon with Keisha. She is feeling better. Today is also Keisha’s fourth birthday and she got a special dinner (steak!) but no birthday cake.

Tonight Denis and I had a rousing game of outdoor shuffleboard. He kicked my butt. Enough said about that!
